Tianna L. Cummings officially founded Tender Love’in Cooking (TLC) in 2019, but her passion for cooking and recipe creation began long before the business's establishment. Her love for cooking stems from cherished memories of cooking with her family, particularly her mother and grandmother.
Beyond her love for cooking, Tianna's personal journey as a vegetarian inspired her to develop flavorful and nutritious vegetarian recipes due to a lack of tasty yet healthy vegetarian options. While TLC specializes in vegetarian options, Tianna is enthusiastic about providing educational resources for individuals with various dietary needs, whether by choice or for health reasons.
Tianna adopted a vegetarian lifestyle over 20 years ago at the age of 11, a decision uncommon for children at that age. Growing up in a supportive household with her mother and grandparents, she was encouraged to explore her culinary interests. Her grandmother, with a background in catering, played a pivotal role in nurturing Tianna's passion for cooking.
Transitioning her hobby into a profession, Tianna has no desire to work in a commercial kitchen, believing it would diminish her love for cooking. Her vegetarianism, combined with her athletic background, motivated her to delve into nutrition and the science behind food consumption. This led her to not only focus on creating delicious dishes but also ensuring they were beneficial for her health.
Drawing inspiration from her grandmother, who provided meals to those in need through her church ministry, Tianna learned the importance of compassion and service through food. This experience, among others, motivated Tianna to merge her culinary skills with nutritional knowledge to benefit others. By sharing her love for cooking and knowledge of nutrition, Tianna not only nourishes her clients but also educates them on making informed food choices.
While TLC initially provided various services including catering, Tianna plans to shift focus towards nutrition and education under TLC. She is pursuing further education to become a registered dietitian, emphasizing intentionality and sustainability in her approach.
